LO4: Planning a new computer game

Basic ideas for a game:

This was the first idea i had for a game, which I thought was a good idea at the time. however, it was quite pricey.

Title: Sports physiotherapy game

Genre: Sports

Platform: Ds to use the touch screen feature to the best of it's ability.

Target Audience: Teens, sports lovers.

Price: £6.99

Distribution method: Nintendo Ds

The game would use the touch screen feature to it's best of it's abilities by using the touch screen ability to fix any faults in therapy, with the top screen as a view as what you can actually see and the bottom screen being able to zoom in so you can see the problem.

Game concept:

The game we are thinking of for our game development is sports related game which is competitive as you would be able to play against other players on line kind of like a race to the top. it is also like an adventure game as you travel all over the world through the 'career' mode but there will be many different modes such as 'survival' which is a test to see how long you can go climbing against other players on a world score board. There will also be a mode of 'lessons' where there will be a series of different skill and trick you learn which you will need for the career mode. The game being based upon 'traveling the world' will include levels based upon the real mountains including Ben Nevis, Kilimanjaro and Everest and also a play on real climbers names using similar character features so the players are familiar with the characters within the game.

The purpose of the game is to reach the summit in the quickest time possible in the career mode as you will gain points to win other players on the world scoreboard. However during the game there will be mountain dwelling creatures that you have to avoid on the mountain otherwise they will capture you, make you fall and have to restart the level.

The controls are simple but effective as the player that is playing the game move the characters arms in the direction they want to travel. They do this by quickly sweeping the arms up to ridges in the rocks where the hands can grasp the mountain. You can only pass the level when you reach the summit in a specific time to make sure you are improving by each level so it give you more of a challenge.

The mountains on which each level is based on is each based on a different mountain in a different countries. The players also within the game and climbing up the mountain collect gold on your way up to be able to customise your avatar as you will ned the gold to buy new clothes and outfits for the character as it is what other players will se when you are playing online against them as first opinions count.

Background:
The background of the game will be to celebrate the beloved game in a new light following the passion of technology which may even get the sport more recognizable and get more people to join in with the sport as they get to know and how it works.Unlike the real sort however you don't need to be fir to take part, just need to know how the sport works and how the game works to get into the game.

Characters:
We aim to use original famous climbers which are well known as a outline to what we will base our characters on however we will not use the people themselves as this is will be a problem with copyright. However we aim to play on names and personalities of the characters and real life people to get the right feeling of the character so you can choose the right character for you.

Platform:
The game will be available on touch screen devices as the game uses the features of touch to climb the wall as you control the character with his arms directly from the touch device. So this game will be available on ipads, ipods and mobile phones.

WHAT IS THE BRIEF?
The aim is to gain a greater understanding of the factors affecting production of produce within the games industry and the factors leading to their ultimate success of failure within the market.

WHO IS THE AUDIENCE?
The audience of the game will be 3+ as the content as it is suitable for both adults and children and the gameplay is specifically appropriate for younger children because it helps develop their fine motor skills.

Meeting
Agenda:
- Present Individual Ideas to the Group
- Assign Roles and Responsibilities
- Decide on a Final Game Idea to Develop
- Name the Company
- Production Plans

Becky – Game Idea: Summit Dash /Climbing game played on iOS and Android/ Focused on iPad, tablets and mobile devices / sports game.

Beth – Game Idea: Dust / RPG / Action Adventure / Apocalyptic world / Steam Punk / Mechanical Life

Isabelle – Game Idea: The Hero that is, Dr Heckler/ Third person RPG/ Played on PC, PlayStation and Wii / Pegi 16 / Steam Punk style.

Danielle - Game Idea: Sports Physiotherapy / DS / Sports / Rated for Everybody
We then decided to split in to two different groups as we want different ideas for a game. Me and Becky decided to make one team and to design the game 'Summit Dash' which is basically a game based on mountain climbing in a sports style designed for the iOS and Android devices. Whereas Beth and Isabelle started to design and think about ideas for the game 'Dust' which Is and action adventure game.

We then  started to assign roles between us deciding who would do each jobs for the game 'Summit Dash' and created some production plans.

Moodboard

This is the mood board I created for the brief as I thought it would be a good idea to see what sort of effects on a picture would create a good angle for the climbers in the game so it would be more interesting.

Competitors

Temple run
- 100 - 200k for making the game
How we are going to make it different to existing?
- Rather than running it's climbing so appeals to mountain climbers rather than runners
- Includes different levels whch are all based in different countries where as temple run is only one level which is endless
- You collect gold as you travel further up the mountain the further up you go the more gold you have chance of collecting.
- Use the gold to unlock other levels and characters and outfits
- Aren't being chased by anything however you have to avoid falling objects and goats.
- Can purchase packs of gold, special features such as characters and outfits from expansion packs for an average of 70p
- The characters will be a play on real climbers names and personalities to make them more relatable.
- It also raises the profile of mountain climbing
- It has a equal amount of male and female climbers within the game which act as real models this makes the game appeal to both the male and female audience.

- Gain money of advertising such as pop up advertisements, banner advertisements, expansion packs and merchandise.

Adverts:
Sports wear advertisments
sporting events
sports gear
charity events
other games available in the app store from other sports

Theme:
- Different levels depending on the environment and country are different colours (based on things such as weather, animals, and background)
- Start screen - logo and 'start' button with simple mountain layout in the background grey mountains, blue sky, green trees etc
- menu - play - purchase - tutorials

Graphics:
- Smooth slick realistic graphics
- 3D
- 3rd person

Out of the list of game titles Gran Turismo would be one of our competitors because it is a sports game. Two other games would be Temple run as it is an app on touch screen devices like our game, and Fifa will be another competitor as it is also a sports game.

Why is fifa a competitor?

Research

This is one of the games i found that is related to climbing. this is kind of the view i was thinking of for my game. I think for my game i would like the controls to be more self controlled, so you control the characters body as well as directions etc. However I want the game to climb mountains rather than a wall unlike this game.

This a card game related to rock climbing which is a similar to the kind of theme I want within the game. However this is not the kind of game I was thinking of. I was thinking more of a 3D feature cartoon game from the back game.

This is some research I have done on rock climbers. I thought it might be a good idea to use original rock climbers to make them familiar with the audience, however so their is no copyright issues play with words on their names.

Legal and Ethical

Ethical issues:
- Violence
- Rating (PEGI)
- Education
- Stereotyping
- Addiction

Violence in the video game is when the player either performs or witnesses something harmful on a living being, as the media like to say kids are getting more violent due to video games, so it would be a good idea if violence is used in the game to target it at a older audience as it could get pulled apart by the media as there is depth in research on how the violence it game can actually effect the young peoples minds and evidence has shown that violent games contribute to making children immature and more violent and aggressive to due to games violent and aggressive nature.

PEGI is a video game rating system which is used to help inform and help people decide on how the graphics and content would be. for example a really high rated game would indicate the game is of a very violent nature or sexual focused game.

Education - when a game can be used for educational purposes such as brain training., however some games give of the wrong educational purposes such as crime and bullying which could influence young children or adults to go out and commit crimes etc. The game must avoid existing as a tool that can be used to cyber-bully and should have strict consequences to punish those who use it for that purpose. The content within the game should also not promote bullying or discrimination.

Stereotyping - Is when someone is expected to act or be a certain way because of the way they look or something they have said.

Things to regard when designing game are things like:

Religious issues -
-  Resistance fall of men where fighting in a church which goes against the christian religion and made it look exactly like the manchester cathedral which they did not have permission to do.

Little Big Planet has lines from the QURAN in the theme tune which was also a religious issue.

Copyright issues -
S.T.A.L.K.E.R uses images and textures from google images which is a copyright issue.
- This was also an issue in city of hero's as they were taking the characters people where creating that was similar to the marvel characters and used them.
- Ulala was a game where one of the main characters looked like someone in a band so they were took to caught and had to pay damages.

Parents tend to misunderstand the age rating. The age rating is like a guideline to parents on weather the company thinks you should let our child play this certain game.

Target audience

Keith is 22 years old and goes to the gym straight after work, as he works in the local secondary school as a p.e teacher in which he cycles to work. Keith doesn't have a girlfriend and blames this on his busy schedule as he's always out and about doing different activities to keep him active and fit. He also takes part in various charity events and challenges which include climbing, cycling, swimming, and running in order to gain money for charity, as it's a family tradition as his dad who died when Keith was little was a keen charity fundraiser and did all sorts of crazy events. Keith has protein shakes every morning and enjoys a fry up to sustain his balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

LO3 – Be able to review a computer console game

The Sims 3 is an addictive life stimulation game developed for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. The game is as basic as how you live your life on a daily basis from basic house chores eat, sleep, love etc to the family life you choose and the life you choose to take on.

The story - The story you follow depends on your family life you choose to take up and the different job role you take on as you could; join the military, join professional sports, become a thief, go into politics, or even become a doctor and many more. You could also take a life as writer writing stories on your laptop at home hoping one day you will make a living.

The gameplay - The gameplay lets you explore your creativity with all the possible choices there are within the game. You create different sims with choosing different styles of looks for the characters, different traits and different clothes for different occasion (formal, swimwear, nightwear etc). You even design your own house on where your sims live and what the walls look like what sort of furniture and things you have in your house. You even increase your sims stats on sports, logic, cooking etc by reading or doing something to do with that stat to get your sim to love the one thing you love. You can even get Karma points within the game! Where it can summon instant money, bad luck, a meteor strike and other possible situations.

The Game length - The game could go on forever as your generations of people could keep reproducing meaning you go through many different generations of the family. Even when you die it doesn't seem to take the game away from you. Even if you have no children you hang around as a ghost to scare people.

The sims game is a game I recommend to everyone it has something that will capture your attention! With all the possible features within the game there will be something you love. The game is just under £15 and well worth the purchase for the features it has. They even have further expansion packs you can buy to add on to the game.

LO2: Understand the importance of reviews for the marketing and promotion of computer console game.

The review uses a second person  address (you can, you will etc.) what effect does this have on the reader?

This makes the review feel more personal, and like the review is aimed at them specifically so it feels like its being written for you.

Quote from the passage: I honestly can't say I was a massive fan of defacing my cars with the admittedly small selection of liveries available during the review period but you don't have to apply a design. Thankfully, opponent designs can be switched off too, so if you prefer the traditional look over racing against a bunch of gaudy Hot Wheels also-rans you're covered.

Favourite phrase: Gaudy Hot Wheels

Thing being reviewed: the car designs and stickers.

How the author is speaking to the target audience:

Explain why this review would or would not influence you to buy the game:

This review would influence you to buy the game as it uses phrases like 'supremely realistic' and 'beautiful' which makes the reader think that the games graphics is of a good quality and that the makers of the game have put a lot of time and effort in to the game. However phrases like 'bunch of gaudy hot wheels' make you think twice about going out to buy the game, as this could just be an opinion of the person writing the review as earlier in the paragraph of this the writer states that he wasn't a massive fan so this could be a way of him criticising the game.

Disney Infinity comparison of reviews
The reviews of Disney Infinity are aimed at two different sorts of people one for people who read the empire magazine, and the other is for IGN viewers on the internet, which i'm guessing are trying to aim at the parents of the children they want to play the game as you wouldn't see children reading either of these reviews.

Team cooper report
Team Cooper is a games developing company that was founded in 2006, by Tim Cooper, they are based at the Electric Works in Sheffield, in the work offices. They specialise in making apps for apple and android devices mainly. they have many different genres of games such as puzzle games, point and click, and action & adventure games. They have games that are specifically aimed at children as well as other age groups.

Tim Cooper kept the company to himself for two years before he began to employ more staff who are; Emma Cooper who is the business development director, John Hunter the team assistant and content writer, Angelique Williams the project manager, Adam Clay the illustrator and animator, Russell Stearman the lead developer and Kyle Rodgers and Simon Morris who are both developers in the business.

Structure:
The business is either owned by one person or one family. The founder of the business and overall managing direct of the business Tim Cooper is the one who owns the company. Emma cooper was the first employee of the business whom he he employed back in may 2008 as a development director,  alongside Kyle Rodgers who is a developer. The rest of team are John Hunter the team assistant and content writer, Angelique Williams the project manager, Adam Clay the illustrator and animator, Russell Stearman the lead developer and Kyle Rodgers and Simon Morris who are both developers in the business.

Platform Technology:
The company produces and creates games for both android and apple devices through apps as well as some HTML and flash for browser games too. They have a good solid team within the business which all specialise on different things which means they can all work on different things to get the projects finished on time and a lot more efficiently.

Games Types:
There are many different types of games produced by team cooper. They have many different genres of games such as puzzle games, point and click, and action &adventure games. They have games that are specifically aimed at children as well as other age groups. Some of there games they have produced within there business are things such as
  • Angry Buyers

  • Blockbusters
  • CBBC'S Pup Stars
  • Choices
  • Dick 'n' Dom's Hoopla!

  • Nurse Quest - Love Hurts
  • Retro Arcade
  • Roof-Top Rush
  • Sick, Snot & Explosions
  • The Marathon
  • Tiny Tumble Bubble Art

Games on Multi Platform:
This is basically the same game on a different platform. 'Fishing with percy' is one of their muti-platform games they have an online on computer platform and then on an android or apple device which is downloadable through the app story or google play, this shows the game is therefor on more than two platforms, as both the platforms are controlled different at the apple and android devices are controlled via the touch screen and the computer via the mouse or keyboard.

Regulatory Bodies:
Team cooper has worked with many clients over the years such as;
- safe@last
- CBBC
- Challenge

These are just some of their clients that they have worked with. In working with these clients they have to give them what they think is suitable compared to the brief they got given by the clients they are currently working with.

Development software:
Team Cooper mainly use Flash and HTML 5 to develop their games.

PEGI Ratings:

Since July 2012 PEGI is only a rating system used in the UK for gaming products. Before this BBFC  rating and PEGI Rating offered different definition.

Bad Language - Game contains bad language.

Game may be frightening for young children.

Game contains sexual references/behaviour or nudity.

Game refers or shows the use of drugs.

Game contains discrimination, which may encourage discrimination.
Game includes gambling or teach gambling.

Online game.

violence - game contains violence.

input and output

Thinking about developing a game using more than one input, what factors would inform how the games used the device?

- How well they work together
- How safe they are to use and the safety precautions
- The different controls

Things to stop this:
- Warnings/Cautions
- Instructions on how to use the controls
- Control information

Input - Anything that put's information in to the device.

Output:
Sound
Vibration
Image

These are the most basic outputs that are commonly used by gaming software.

Case study: Guitar Hero
Input: button presses, strum switch, distortion bar
Output: Image, sound,

Choose one title that is capable of using more than one input device, and answer the following questions:
How does it use inputs?
how does this enhance the gameplay for the gamer?
what other inputs could be used to do the same thing?

Wii fit
It uses both the wii controller and the wii fit board. The wii controller is used to see the movement of your arms and hands. Where as the Wii fit board is used to judge the movement of your legs and feet. It sues traditional buttons presses on the wii controller, as well as using the wii fit board as another input for the movement of your body. This enhances the gamer by making them feel like they are in the whole game able to control their character with their whole body. A regular controller could be used to do the same as the wii controller, where as something like the connect or eye toy could do something similar to the wii fit board.

The affect on production
- Different inputs call for different coding and development software.
- How the user interacts with the software will influence how much time is spent on development
- For example a Wii game will utilise traditional button presses as well as accelerometer input.

Little big planet analysis
Platform: PlayStation 3

Little big planet is a puzzle platform game, which allows players to follow the adventures of the little sack boy. Within the game you can complete different levels on different worlds and even make your own world and levels for other players on the game, playing online to complete. The game has stylistic conventions of a puzzle platform game as it allows the players on the game to complete different levels on their own or online with other players or friends. It also allows the players to complete different missions to apply stickers within the level to unlock different items within the game such as clothes for the characters to wear and other stickers, which you may need to unlock other things on different levels. The game sits in well with the other games, as it is a selection of different levels and worlds with a set story line and setting in each level.

The set story line of the game is to follow the adventure of the sack boy through the series of different levels and worlds in the game. This informs the game play, as you know the aim of the game is to pass the level and get to the next world by unlocking them. The narrative affects the way the person playing the game approaches the characters by pressing the character up using the clothes that you have unlocked within the game. It also allows you to follow him on his adventure through the adventures to different worlds. This allows the target audience to connect with the narrative by allowing the person to play as sack boy on his adventures.

The game was released in 2008, and was the first game media molecule released. Which had positive reviews for it's design, game play and customisation which lead the game on to win many reviews.

The character within the game can express four different emotions happiness, sadness, worry and anger the person playing as sack boy can control this. Each emotion he has three levels of intensity. The character can be dressed to how you wish depending on the things on which you have unlocked within the game using the stickers you apply to the cardboard texture within levels, which unlocks other things you will need further on in the game. The only thing you wrong with some of the missions is that you have to unlock all the features where as some of them you are only able to do as 2 or 3 player which makes the game less personal. The fact that the character can be customised to how the player wants makes the target audience a

lot broader as the main character of the game can be male referred to as sack boy or you can make the main character girl with the clothes and wigs you achieve during the level. The characterisation of this match the conventions of the game by allowing you to customise the character to look like you, which make it, feel like your adventure, which makes the characterisation within the game a lot more relevant to the story line.

The challenge of the game is to unlock all the items within the game by playing each level and collecting all the items within that level as well as completing each level to the best you can which enters you into the worldwide score board for the game. The fact that you can customise the character to how you want engages the player to play as the game is completely custom-able the the player with things such as costumes and levels. The fact that you can create your own levels for other players to play online and rate on how good they thought the level was from the creative point of view. The fact that you can customise the game to your want relates to the narrative of the sackboys' adventures as he goes on much adventure within the 'LittleBigPlanet' to many different places. The game constantly evolves through different complexity of levels to keep the reader engaged to the game and keep them interested.

Little big planet is aimed at 12+ and there is no gender divide within the game as it is not specific on one gender as you can dress the sack boy up in whatever you feel like. A reason for the game being aimed at 12+ is because of the moderate violence used within the game with things being
blown up and squished. The online feature also makes it unsuitable for any younger children. This game is similar to many other games targeting this target audience however not many games are as customisation able as the other platform games so this is an advantage for the game when in comparison to others.

This game is specifically for the PlayStation just like the sequels that follow, however there was one which was brought on the psp but didn't go as big as the PlayStation 3, i think this was mainly because of the fact there are a bigger demand for PlayStation games than there are psp games, with most game players either being PlayStation players or Xbox players the market is completely split down the middle. The game itself however is suited for both platforms as there's no feature that makes the game play a lot better on each. The positive side on PlayStation is obviously that you have it on your TV, however there positive side to the psp is that you have a handheld device on which you can play anywhere.

Nintendogs Lab & Friends Analysis

Platform: Nintendo DS

Nintendogs is a pet stimulation game, which was developed for a hand held console. The ability for it to be only developed for a handheld console is the fact that you can interact with the pet by touching the screen to make the pet run towards you, and the ability to shout the pets name to make it respond to it’s name on your command.

This game sits in the genre of a pet stimulation game as allows the player to have a more realistic feel towards the character as you are playing as the owner, looking after the pets you adopt and train. Depending on your preference on the dogs, depends on the game you should buy as there are many different version of the game, with each game having a different breed and selection of different dogs.

The game has a narrative right from the start as the aim of the game is to train the dogs to the best of your ability. You can navigate your dog to walk and bark by touching the touchscreen on the DS, you can also brush and wash the dog by the navigation of the touch screen. The fact that you can also shout commands to the dog through the microphone shows the complete control you have over the game. The game also allows you to meet other players within the game to exchange gifts and go on walks. The game also allows players to compete in competitions against others to win money, which the money can be used to but caring products and other breeds of dogs.

This game connects with the target audience as you can interact with the pet on screen as much as you wish to through the touchpad. This also connects to the target audience by, allowing them to connect with friends who also helps it suit the genre as well as the target audience. The story however connects to the audience by letting the player have complete control over the dogs, and also allowing them to play the game as the owner it’s self which gives of a quite a realistic feel.

Nintendogs first came out as a demo on the Nintendo GameCube quite a while before it came across to the DS platform. The game during development was going to be called ‘Puppy Times’ at first with 15 different versions one for each breed of dogs, however they would have had to much work for one game so they decided upon the 3 different versions of games with 3 dogs available at first with the rest of the dogs available when you unlock in game goals and achievements. The reasoning for making the game for Nintendo DS was the fact that the games producer wanted to take full advantage of all the features upon the console, which is how they came upon the idea of a pet stimulation game.

The fact in which you can interact with the pet completely through the mic and the touch screen is specifically enhanced as it make the game feel more realistic to the game player. This allows the person playing to have complete control on how they want their story to go and what they wish to do within the game as they have complete control over it.

The characterisation with in the gameplay is important as you are playing as the pet owner you never actually see yourself as a character. The characterisation of the dogs is also important, as they are the only full characters you see in the game. Within the game the dogs will vary in gender and character depending on the breed of dog, there are 15 breeds available as these are the most popular dogs available.

Within the game you can only have three pups within the game where you can teach of them new tricks y speaking into the microphone, so you have to pick and choose between the dogs you own by putting some of the dogs into the dog hotel.

The challenges within the game are to actually compete in different types of competition agility, obedience and disk throwing competitions to win money to buy other things in the game. Other challenges within the game is to unlock all the other breeds of dogs available, and get the dogs trained to the best of their abilities. The game makes the interaction with the pets enhances the game play, this feature gives it more success as it gives you the chance to have complete control within the game.

The game is titled ‘E’ for everyone which means the game is suitable for anyone to play as they have may content which could contain minimal cartoon, fantasy or mild violence and/or language. The game marks these are suitable for anyone 6 years and older.  I would say the target audience for this game would be children ages 6+ as the content allows you to do some skills that children would be able to do in real life that they are then able to do in the game such as take the dog to competition which allows them to do things within the game that they wish to do within there real life. This game could also be aimed at 6+ as they would not b able to have there own pet as they are to young so they may want a pet but not old enough to have their own, so from the game they have a pet of their own.

Flappy Bird Analysis
Android/Apple app

Flappy bird is a game that took the craze in 2013. It went from one person to the next to the next to the next.It was originally published by GEARS Studio by a independent game developer.

The game has a side-scrolling format and the player controls a bird, attempting to fly between rows of green pipes without coming into contact with them. The developer created the game over several days, using a bird he had designed for a cancelled game in 2012. received a sudden rise in popularity in early 2014. It was criticized for its level of difficulty and alleged plagiarism in graphics and game mechanics, while other reviewers found it addictive.

Flappy bird however has now been removed from both the apple and android store due to guilt over what he considered to be its addictive nature. The game's popularity game's popularity and sudden removal caused phones with it pre-installed to be put up for sale for very high prices over the Internet.

There is literally no story to the game, it lasts until you hit a pipe and then it's game over. It is by far one of the most simple yet addictive games you will ever see. The story follows the life of a yellow bird trying to fly through all the green pipes.

Flappy Bird is a side scrolling mobile game (game which is from a side-view camera angle, and the onscreen characters generally move from the left side of the screen to the right to left or possibly the opposite to meet an objective) with 2d retro style graphics.

The game is a pixelated style theres no great graphics in the game however the green pipes kind of make you feel like the game is related to Mario with the pipes in that,

Sims 3
PC Platform

The genre of the game is a stimulation game which involves leading the life of the characters within the game, achieving all the goals and achievements within the game. The game is played through an optical disk, which you then download to the desktop of your computer/laptop.

The narrative behind the game has a clear objective from the very start of the game, the aim is to look after the people/family you have in your household, all you have to do for a simple life is keep the sim's healthy and living. Throughout the game you can also complete different missions and aims to earn and unlock things within the game. The intention of being able to make to control the characters every movement is intended on you feeling like a part of the game as the character.

Sims 3 was first announced in 2008. It has many add-ons you can get to the game, which you buy the optical disk for, they lock certain themed items and clothes within game depending on which add on you purchase.

The fact that you can use a mouse or touchpad to navigate where the sim's travel to and what tasks they do within the game makes you feel like you have complete control over what happens in the game and the Sims life.

The characters in the game are exactly how the player chooses them to look. Form the smallest facial features to their weight and height.  This draws the target audience to the characters in the game, as there is not a fault they have with their characters. They can also relate to real people so you could make a sim virtually that looks similar to someone you know personally. The characters in the game are quite life-like; this makes the characterization match the genre of the game.

The challenge of the game is dependent on the characters within the game, and the job you wish you characters to have. This relates to the target audience because they get tasks and objectives based on the type of character they want to be able to control.
The target audience for the game is commonly 16 - 24 year olds, with not a specific gender to be aimed at. This age is shown by some of the actions you can get the characters to achieve which may not be suitable for a younger audience. The game has violent and sexual references within the game.

This game in comparison to other games of a similar genre is probably one of the most known of it's type as it has a big name behind it. It also has a lot of virtual features which some games do not have within them such as the fact you can control everything the do instantly within seconds.

This game is available on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation, ds, Wii, I think the game is more suited to a pc personally because it feels more realistic and life like, as you can control the character with the touchpad or mouse on your laptop/PC. Personally I would recommend this game if you are after a game of this genre especially on a PC Platform.

Super Mario 3D Land
Platform: Nintendo 3DS

Super mario bros have being around from 1985. The game has evolved a lot since the first time it was released on a computer. This edition i'm analysing is on a Nintendo 3DS platform and has a lot of 3d realistic features within the game. The graphics and structure of the game since it was first released have got a lot more detailed and more up to date with the technology and features in the world to date.

This game is a platform game which is a single player game on a 3DS which uses the features of the Mario World more realistics giving the object a more realistic 3d look to them. You can also control the character with the the circle pad, which makes it easier for you to control the character as is a much more smoother and quick movement, rather than the original game that was released on the normal DS with the control pad as you have less effective movements.

The audience of the game is quite a wide audience as it's a bunch of well known characters which have evolved through the years it is also not a complex game with easy controls and simple objective. However it is specified to one console of the 3DS as no other console has the available 3D features.

The narrative of the game is to beat the boss's and get to the princess to 'save her' as you pass through each world where there is 8 worlds and withing those 8 worlds there is 8 different levels where you can collect three golden stars on each level. Which then unlock extra levels where you get power ups to help you within the level you also have to collect so many stars within the levels to get further within the game.

The characters within the game are well known characters in the game world. However they have evolved a lot since the first time they were released as the graphics in games has improved a lot since the first version of mario as the graphics in the game world have improved throughout generations which helps to compete with games of a similar genre with better graphics as well as relate-able characters.

GREASE ANALYSIS
XBOX 360 KINECT
This game is based on the Original movie which gives fans of the movie the chance to sing and dance along with there favourite songs of the hit musical. The game is a rhythm game, which follows the original dance moves of the original musical so it keeps the original choreography. The game can be for one player or tow players as each and every dance is specifically made for two players, so the unfortunate side to this is that if you are playing alone you have to pretend you are a duet.

The story line of the game is following the original movie of songs as you have to complete a song to unlock the next song, so you have to have played all the songs to have unlocked them all, this helps the person playing know the particular structure of the game as well as informs the game play. The narrative of the game is not very particular as you can pick up from any song, however the particular song follow the structures choreography.

The game was released in the UK on 4th of November 2011 which was created by 505 games. The game i think has many faults however in my opinion as you have to play the dance as a duet to get the full experience of the game as it's not as good as one player game. Another thing is of the 20 songs available only 15 are available in the dance section so it gives the game a unfinished feeling which makes the creators seem lazy and not bothered.

Within the sections of the game you are unable to choose the character you play, you have to deal with the character you get given so it's not a choice. The characters you get given within the songs are the ones that are usually relate to the song in play.

The game play of them game is really not the best in my opinion. The kinect sensor picks up any movement in the room so if you have a full use the game is really harsh to play as the slightest movement could ruin your game and even score. However to improve the game play I think the game would be improved if you had more of a choice on the characters and if there was a party option of more than two players.

The features of the game seem really cartoonized and some of which don't look like the characters in the movie which I think the creators could have spent a little more time on for them to resemble the character they are supposed to be representing.

MineCraft Analysis
PC
Minecraft. is in the genre of Fantasy and is a indie game. The game is a sandbox game where the player can play a human made of cubes that can walk around and break the blocks which make up the landscape which they can also alter. You can put blocks together, break them apart, this is done to make new construction to make a better landscape.

There is no set storyline to the game, however the aim of the game is to survive through the night of the monster trying to kill you, or making the land you have look good if you choose the creative mode. The aims are all different depending on what you find interesting and which mode of the game you choose.

The game play has easy movements as the player uses the W, A, S and D keyboard keys to move around but the controls can be changed in the menu options to any keys of your choice, the space bar however is used to jump, the computer mouse is used to look around and the left mouse click is also used to break/attack or place, as the button will allow whatever you have in your hand to use or if hovering your mouse over the block it will break it.The game has several modes there is the creative mode which allows you to create a landscape, there is the survival mode  were you have to gather resources and kill monsters, gather food so your character doesnt starve and make all the armour needed, there is the harcore mode where its basically the same as survival however if you die your world is deleted and never to be seen again, and are unable to change the difficulty as it is locked to that mode and there is one more mode of game which is the adventure mode which is designed for community maps only. The basic mission is to survive the night, several monsters comes out to kill you and you can build a shelter to protect yourself from these monsters. After that, there's no more goal, allowing you to make your own goals you wan, or just build anything you want to make it look good or pretty. The game was released in 2011on November the 19th. I think the game has many positive points as it's been out nearly three years and  is still well rated and played on in a lot of places.

The game can be played both Single player and multiplayer, however to play it multiplayer you would need a server address or otherwise known as ip address.

The game is available on more than one console its available on Computer desktop, Online, iOS, Android, Xbox 360 and Rasberry Pi, where it was published by Mojang.

  DJ Hero Analysis
Xbox 360

Dj hero is a lot like guitar hero but with a dj board. Just like guitar hero like using a guitar however Dj hero is using a dj board. Dj hero is a music video game which was released by Activision. The game is in the genre of Music and rhythm.

It was released October 29, 2009 and is available on PlayStation, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360, it had that good of sales that they produced a sequel of DJ Hero 2. The game to my knowledge was very effective as its controls was rather easy as there is buttons on the board and you shake the disk for longer keys if that's what you call them.

The controls consist of a DJ Board movable turntable that supports 3 "stream" buttons, an effects dial, a cross fader, and a "Euphoria" button this button is similar to the power up or star power button on other games which enables you to double points by certain points, a hidden panel contains additional controller buttons to interact with the gaming console outside of the game, which allows you to use the controller in and out of the game so it can be put to use for not just the game which i find a really good feature.

This game is also available as a Single Player or Multiplayer game playable locally or remotely. The game is played on career mode however when it is on multiplayer mode it can be both cooperative and career mode. There is also a party play mode within the game which allows any other player to join at anytime automatically, this is a good feature to have so you don't have to keep restarting the game if you have friends over. There is even the chance to use a microphone to sing along and add to the mix however you will not score points which I think is a negative point to the game as if you score points it would add to the competitive aspect of the game.
